Unemployment Rises…to Freedom!

After hearing so many gloomy news stories this recession, it is nice to hear some news which is actually good. I’m talking about the fact that unemployment is rising. If unemployment rises, employment falls. Time’s couldn’t be better!

Many people have been working hard for over twenty years and will have very little wealth to show at the end of it. What is standing between them and financial freedom? Why is it that some people will work very little and make significantly more money?

I am no conspiracy theorist but there is something wrong with the world that we are living in. People have been conditioned to wake up and spend the nice part of the day slaving for someone and the last few tiresome hours of the day with what matters – their family and friends.

The Advantages of Being an Employee.

Experience.

My father told me to get a job at Morrison’s when I was younger for the sake of pocket money and experience (this was my first and last job ever). The managers (or perhaps they were deities as they were treated like that) first told us about the rules and regulations. Even the trolley pusher who was being conditioned with me said “Wow it’s like being in school again”.

I then was shown how to stack the shelves and make the store look pretty. Two months of blood, sweat, and piss cleaning I was no wealthier and the only experience I had was stacking shelves and how to be a good servant. I never plan to be stacking shelves and I never want to be a servant. Experience, for the wrong thing.

If you are an employee, the experience you are gaining is how to be a servant and how to bow to the will of the boss. That is not freedom.

Advantage 1: Gaining experience of how to not be free.

A Solid Income

As an employee you will be paid for the number of hours you labour. That is in no way linked to the productiveness of those work hours. If you are a doctor and work very hard day in and day out, you are paid the exact same as another doctor who slacks off.

youre-firedA “solid” income is so solid that if you go against the rules of the playground, you will be fired. If you don’t feel like working one day, you will be fired. If you call home too often, you will be fired. If you don’t respect the boss who thinks he is a deity, you will be fired. Sounds really “solid”, don’t you think?

If you want a raise, you will have to beg for one. The way that a servant begs his King for a raise. The boss will then sit back like a King, and insult your work and not give you a raise.

Advantage 2: A solid income which can be cut off for any reason by one nut case uttering three words: You are fired.

Covers costs

You will be covering your mortgage, your gas, electric and water bills, your council tax, your road tax, your poll tax, your income tax, inheritance tax, property tax, capital gains tax, car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, food, refurbishing your house, your wife/husbands things, your children’s basic necessities, fixing broken things etc.

At the end of this roller-coaster of paying out, you will be left with a massive total of NOTHING! Are you such a dumbed down human being that you think that it is okay for you to work FOR someone else? What I mean here is that when you work and get your pay, you do not spend it on yourself, but rather on everyone else. You spend your life labouring for everyone apart from yourself. What a nice person you are!

Advantage 3: You become a charitable person to the government (who get more than half of what you earn) and everyone around you.

Socialising

A reason given by the slave population is that they work because they get the opportunity of working with different people from different walks of life. As an employee you are at a social dead end. Would an engineer ever make friends with a dentist at his work place? You will mingle with a select few people who are in the same godforsaken boat as you – employed.

Advantage 4: You will get to know a few people and never step outside your little circle.

Holidays and Time Off

If you want to take time off or go on a holiday or follow your dreams (climb Everest) you will have to beg your king to allow it, and he probably won’t. If you are unwell, you have to tell your king you are unwell.

Would it not be nice to make money while on holiday? Would it not be nice to make money without working as hard as you do? Would it not be nice to live your life?

Advantage 5: You will become a zoo animal.

Where is the Exit?

If you are employable, it means you are worth something. People expect there to be one way out. There isn’t. There are hundreds of ways out, but they all require courage.

freedom1Freelancers are the people who had the courage, vision, perseverance and honour to stand up to the way in which this sick world is conforming it’s people to. We are the honest, honourable and independent people of the working world. We work for our integrity, no bosses.

Becoming a freelancer means to become your own boss, but, becoming your own boss does not mean becoming a freelancer. There are other options like starting up a business based on anything, literally.

The Advantages of Being a Freelancer

Advantage 1: Gaining experience in the field where you want to gain experience, at the speed and amount YOU want.

Advantage 2: A solid income which is ruled by you and the amount of work you do. An income is more solid if you have fifteen sources of income over one.

Advantage 3: You work for yourself, as your income has no limit, after paying off the government and your bills you can spend anything you want on yourself.

Advantage 4: You will get to know people from all over the world and many different walks of life. You will also have significantly more time to do what you want and therefore socialise more, with people outside your circle.

Advantage 5: You will be free to work and play when you want. If you want a holiday, you have to convince only yourself. If you feel down one day, don’t work!

HOW?

Are you fed up of the conformed grey lifestyle you live? Are you looking for freedom in your life? Do you think you are worth more than what you are told you are?

From 7th August till 9th August it is “Back to Basics” weekend. This is for freelancers who need to revisit the initial reason why they became a freelancer, but it is mainly for people who want to become a freelancer.

Lovely, lovely article! My uncle always drives a point to me and tells me that if he ever hits the lottery he’ll be walking out the door and on an island. The sad fact is that the more the recession deepens, the less companies would value you because they know you’ll work harder in a recession. I at first was not considering freelancing and I still want to work in the future as a professional programmer. In my spare time I want to become a full fledged web developer and I’m getting there, finally. I used to work at a warehouse for a certai

I used to work at a warehouse for a certain furniture company. It was hell, all because the boss man would throw his weight around and make people feel like crap if they made a mistake. Some days were better than others, but really it’s not something to look forward to. I busted my tail and I couldn’t even get a five cent raise.

I would think the biggest difference between freelancing and working for someone else is that your income potential is unlimited but you require much more discipline so that you can manage yourself properly. I’ve finally decided to get to work on a portfolio/blog after discovering I liked working with code. I naturally dig art so web design and graphic design are elements I’ll incorporate into my own business but I’d like to master programming more than anything else to be honest. Besides, working for yourself is fun! That’s the best thing about it. Companies that want creative professionals want experience, experience you’re unlikely to get from low level jobs. The only thing I valued at my past job was medical insurance, but that really is a big issue. Provided I get insurance that covers me sufficiently without an in-house job, I may consider full time freelancing as it’s something I take serious but I still want an in-house programming job in the future. I’m in school for computer science but companies really do want two or more years with school education.

I am employed in USA with an non immigrant visa and I am not allowed to do freelancing, because my visa will not permit me to do so.
