This Easter we have the opportunity to plan ahead for the summer vacation so that we can continue to successfully grow our businesses despite any distractions. In the summer it is usually difficult to avoid certain commitments and other times it is hard to work when it would be much nicer to enjoy yourself outside.
1. Clients
When we are in any holiday season you may want to bear in mind that your client may be on holiday, even if you are not. Sometimes clients may not mention that they are going on holiday so there here are some things to bear in mind with regards to clients during holiday season.
Contact the client before the holidays and clear up any problems. You may want to ask the client for an alternative contact number if they are going on holiday or who else you can get in touch with.
Bear in mind that sometimes a client may have a holiday when you may not, for example, if your client’s name is Muhammad, then he may celebrate ‘Eid’ instead of Christmas, or if the clients name is Arjun, he will probably be celebrating ‘Diwali’.
Try to have patience with your clients, bearing in mind that they are probably enjoying themselves with their families and may not be replying because of this.
2. The Hot Weather
Many freelancers work from a home office, and even if you don’t, sitting in front of a computer all day during the summer is not the best of ideas. You may want to keep yourself hydrated with water, take extra breaks, sit in a cool room (usually the ground floor).
3. Family
Children being off from school means that they will want to spend time with you, and even if you don’t have children then other members of your family will want you to spend time with them. You need time off and you need to spend time with your loved ones, so if you do decide to not work on holiday, then that’s fantastic, but sometimes you may need to, and if this is the case you need to bear in mind that the majority of your time be spent with family.
Plan extra time off so you can go to theme parks and do worthwhile things with your family. Don’t be like the guy in the pic!
4. Your Own Holiday
When you do go on holiday this summer, leave a number with your clients and if you are taking your work with you, be sure to carry your work with you. Back up your files and get mobile internet and a laptop.
If any clients need to know, then by all means tell them. Don’t work for the whole holiday, rather try to take more time off, so be sure to schedule everything.
5. Work Outside
Go out and enjoy the sun. You can go to the park and enjoy the sun there. If you need the internet then apparently there are wi-fi parks in the USA which you can go to. This is excellent for getting your inspiration up and working at the same time.
Final Point
Think of what you did last summer. Really try to think of all the things which caused you to be less productive, get less business and what made you more successful. Implement those things which worked for you, and let us know what those things are by commenting below.

I can’t say I agree 100% regarding certain points, but you’ve got a unique perspective. Anyway, I appreciate the quality you bring tothe blogosphere and that this isn’t just another abandoned, made-for-adsense site! Take care…

It sounds like time management for work and for play is key. I try to take my work to places like the park or outside activity. It’s refreshing.
